![]() ![]() ![]() Yea 20 years ago I sweated bullets updating BIOS', but not anymore. PCs, yea quite a few failed, but it wasn't due to power. I've upgraded thousands of PC BIOS' and thousands MikroTik Firmwares over the last decade and never stressed over it. ![]() That's human coding error.Īll MikroTik's have firmware/OS recovery netinstall. So skipping versions has a higher chance of failure than a power outage. For example a motherboard might have 15+ BIOS upgrades, yet the latest firmware wasn't programmed to take into consideration that you might be updating from version 1.0. Usually BIOS upgrade problems is due to poor programming. Most Motherboards especially if they are labeled business or gaming have BIOS recovery methods. All of them hungs for 10 seconds after I clicked "Install" button.Ever seen what happens to a computer that loses power while the BIOS is being upgraded? Even without power dips upgrading a BIOS feels very stressful, this is the same case for the Routerboard Firmware. In the previous topic I was wrote that I tried Netinstall version 3.26, 3.27, 3.28, 3.30, 4.0, 4.1 and are didn't works. When I press the "Install button" the Netinstall sends 6 packets: I dump the network traffic with Wireshark after router booted the netinstalls kernel and I see the UPD packets witch was sent by the router in every seconds: Maybe LoL, but I found an interactive video on Youtube about howto use Netinstall and I was follow that step-by-step and it was worked there but doesn't works for me. Sorry, maybe I'm too lamer but Netinstall never works for me. It will be in next Netinstall version, right now you have to use Netinstall 4.0 We fixed the Netinstall upgrading issue where it's stuck at "Sending offer". ![]() Trying to fix it up, but a reboot is needed Press any key within 2 seconds to enter setup. Router is accessible only through serial console: After the upgrade, as soon as the RB booted with two beeps and starting services in console window all ethernet interface blink lights. ![]()
